The Choose-and-Cut Experience

Holiday Divider

Pine View Farm consists of several beautifully maintained fields, interconnected by easy woodland trails. Upon arrival, you will be provided with a hand saw and a tree cart. After a short walk down a gravel path, you will enter our fields, all of which contain a mix of species in a variety of heights. Most of our saleable trees are between 6 and 10 feet. (Click here to learn more about the species we grow.)

Spend as much time as you like enjoying the scenery and seeking out the perfect tree. We recommend that you dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes and gloves so you remain comfortable outside. Once you’ve found “the one,” you will cut down your tree and bring it back to our sales pavilion on the provided cart. We will bale your tree (place netting around the tree to compress the branches, making it easier to transport and bring inside) and tie it to your vehicle.

All of our trees are the same price, regardless of size, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Click here for 2025 pricing.) This price includes a tree disposal bag, a brochure with tree care tips, and candy canes and stickers for the kids. We also sell beautiful fresh wreaths and a variety of handmade decorations. We prefer cash but are also happy to accept credit cards for your convenience.

Fresh-cut Christmas trees are beautiful, all-natural, and environmentally beneficial! Each tree is uniquely shaped and trimmed by hand, wonderfully fragrant, and ready to be enjoyed for your entire holiday season.

FAQs

How much do you charge for a tree?

All trees are 110$ (note: this is the 2025 season price). Sales tax and tree baling is included in the price. Our staff is available to secure the tree to your vehicle. All sales are final.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We accept cash or credit cards.

Do you have restrooms?

No. The farm entrance is not located near any buildings with water or electricity.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs of all sizes and breeds. All dogs must remain leashed.

Do you allow chainsaws?

No. Due to insurance restrictions, we regret that we cannot allow customers to use chainsaws or electric saws on our farm. However, we are happy to provide you with a sharp bow saw. If you have concerns about cutting a tree yourself, please let our staff know and we will be happy to assist you.

Do you sell refreshments?

No, we do not have food or beverages for sale but there are shops within a short driving distance if you need anything.

What supplies do you provide?

We provide sharp bow saws and tree carts for bringing trees back from the fields. We will also bale your tree for you and secure it to your vehicle with twine, if desired. You should bring a warm coat, good boots, and gloves. Some people find it helpful to bring knee pads or a piece of cardboard to kneel on while cutting their tree. Ratchet straps can be helpful for securing a tree to a vehicle but are not necessary.

How large is your farm?

We currently have about 10,000 trees growing in seven fields. Trees are all sizes, from about one foot (saplings planted this year) to trees up to about 10 feet.

How long does it take to grow a Christmas tree?

It takes about 6 to 8 years from planting to harvest. We plant 2 to 4-year-old saplings, which spend several years growing and are then harvested at around 8 to 12-years-old. One of the great benefits of being a choose-and-cut farm is that no excess trees are harvested. Every tree that is cut down is replaced by a sapling in the spring.

What tree species do you grow?

We grow Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, Blue Spruce, Meyer Spruce, and White Spruce. Species are chosen based on their resiliency and ability to thrive in diverse conditions, including periods of drought, and their ability to resist deer and insect damage. You can read more about our species here.

Why aren’t you open on more days?

We determine the number of days that we will be open based on the number of trees that are available for harvest. Each year we try to ensure that there are a wide variety of trees available for our customers. Because it takes many years for trees to grow, it is important not to over harvest in any given year, as this can have long-term repercussions. To avoid over-harvesting, we limit the dates that we are open.

Why are real trees the best?
Holiday Divider

Real Christmas trees are an environmentally friendly way to celebrate the Christmas season. Each tree is completely unique and, while in your home, they will provide a natural fragrance. Trees are biodegradable and, after the holiday season, can be reused for mulch or placed in your backyard as a winter shelter for birds. Throughout the year, our trees improve air quality and provide a critical habitat for bald eagles, owls, hawks, turtles, deer, mink, bear, and many other animals. Pine View Farm is part of a conservation easement with the Orange County Land Trust, protecting our farmland and its natural habitat in perpetuity. You can read more about our farm’s history here.
